2017 in Review - Engagement Sessions

Wedding and portrait photographers in Southern New England are everywhere. There are over 1,200 active members in a local online network alone. Imagine those not in that network! And yet, so many wonderful, kind, beautiful couples reached out to us and selected us as their memory keepers for their engagements and weddings.

Here are some of our favorite engagement portraits of 2017!

We shot in so many interesting and inspiring locations this year, from private estates to the streets of Philadelphia, the park across the street from our home to Horseneck and Third Beach, from Downtown Providence to Downtown New Bedford, Roger Williams Park to Harkness Park, from War Memorial Park to Newport, Rhode Island, a farm owned by a friend of a couple to the shores in Manomet, from Cape Cod beaches to Lakeville Water Treatment facilities! Literally, we find beauty anywhere and let our couples love do all the talking.

2017 in Review

My name is Shanna. I am the world's worst blogger. People tell me "blog once a day, every day" but you know, I forget to grab my keys before walking out the door most days... I forget to blog! It's been... four months? I'm not sure. But it's my NEW YEARS RESOLUTION to blog at least once a week. One time a week is doable. Please. Keep me accountable. Don't let me fail.

I digress.

2017 was epic.

We had some of the most fabulous weddings. Lots of fun moments. Lots of humor and fun. Lots and lots of freaking awesome images. We delivered 28,281 wedding images this year. 28,281 memories. I'm blown away from the love and support we receive from our friends and family, clients and followers.

Here are a few of our favorite images from the year.

We worked at lots of fabulous venues this year!

The Abbey Grill, Indian Pond Country Club, The Hope Club, Cotali Mar, The Villa at Ridder Country Club, The Cultural Center, Easton's Beach Rotunda, Rachel's Lakeside, Franklin Country Club, Ocean Cliff, the Publick House, Crown Plaza, Lake Pearl, Venus de Milo, Corpus Christi, Ester, The Rhode Island Shriners Imperial Room, Rosebrook Event Center, Grandview, Our Lady of Light Club, Leicester Country Club, Providence Public Library

Lindsey and Mike | Belle Mer, Newport, Rhode Island Wedding

Newport, Rhode Island is the absolutely most magical place on this earth, especially for history nerds like us. When you see the sunset, knowing that a couple of hundred years ago, American royalty was hanging out in the same spot, it's pretty outstanding.

On this wedding day, it felt like the most regal lady, the sweetest and kindest bride ever, got to marry her soulmate. They met in high school! Belle Mer was an incredible backdrop, with the perfect sunset for their ceremony and stunning natural light for their formal portraits.

They began their day with a first look that was moving and incredibly personal. (Anyone questioning whether or not they should do one, this wedding adds another check to the pro's list.) Every last detail was impeccable.

Danielle and Tim | Newport Engagement Photography

When Danielle messaged me looking to do her engagement session in Newport, Rhode Island, I knew that the beautiful Cliff Walk, Ochre Court and at her suggestion, Midtown Oyster Bar would be perfect this time of year. The scenery of Newport is quintessential RI, and while Danielle and Tim await their Linden Place wedding in Bristol, Rhode Island, where else to get a little posing practice than in America's most beloved summer playground?

Danielle and Tim, in fact, needed no practice with posing. They were complete naturals and perhaps, the most adorable couple I've ever met. I mean, look at Tim's shirt at the Oyster Bar?! It's just quirky, funny and a nod to the fact that they can never have any pets due to his allergies. Way to give to your lady, Tim. At least she has a cat on your shirt!

By the way, you can find that bad boy on Amazon. You can thank me later.

Sam | Fall River Portrait Photography

Whenever we want to snap a new photo of our son, we don't need to look too far than own home town of Fall River, Massachusetts to catch some new memories. Sam is FIVE AND A HALF! Well, he will be in a few days. So we celebrated this new milestone with some quick photos this Sunday afternoon. Children change so quickly, so we love to photograph him regularly.

We don't need elaborate sets or complex sessions with him. We like him as his own quirky self.

Here is Sam, our ham.

This year, he's learned hot to spell (about 120 words), he graduated from Occupational Therapy, had three surgeries, two overnight hospital stays, learned to jump in the pool, can take an amazing selfie and is likely the only five year old on this earth that LOVES geography and world history. It's quite amazing being his mom and dad.
